shntool What is it? shntool is a multi-purpose WAVE data processing and reporting utility. File formats are abstracted from its core, so it can process any file that contains WAVE data, compressed or not - provided there exists a format module to handle that particular file type. shntool has native support for .wav files, but if you want it to work with .shn files, you must have shorten installed and located in your default path. (Windows users will be provided with shorten.exe in the zip file(s) below.) http://shnutils.etree.org/shntool/ ---- shorten What is it? shorten is a fast, low complexity waveform coder (i.e. audio compressor), originally written by Tony Robinson at [http://www.softsound.com/ SoftSound]. It can operate in both lossy and lossless modes. More information can be found here. The last official version released by Tony was 2.3a. In the fall of 2000, I started hacking on the code to add unix support for seek tables, which Wayne Stielau had developed and implemented for the Windows platform. With his help, I was able to release version 3.0 on 9/29/2000, and have maintained the unix 3.x versions ever since. http://shnutils.etree.org/shorten/ ---- ''```Search Terms: Linux, Unix, FreeBSD, BSD, OpenBSD, Irix```''
